Engineering Companies in Pune: an overview
The Kirloskar group still runs several of its engineering companies from Pune. Kirloskar Pneumatic, founded in 1958, has its registered office, head office and plant in the Hadapsar Industrial Estate. Kirloskar Oil Engines keeps its registered office at Khadki and a corporate office at One Avante in Kothrud, while Kirloskar Brothers runs its pump business from the Yamuna building in Baner, with plants that include Kirloskarvadi in Sangli district. Bharat Forge has its headquarters at Mundhwa, in the Pune Cantonment area.
European engineering groups arrived early. KSB's Indian company was founded in 1960 and makes pumps and valves at plants in Pimpri and Chinchwad, two of its six in India. Atlas Copco's Indian subsidiary, incorporated the same year, is registered at Sveanagar in Dapodi. Forbes Marshall, which makes steam and control equipment, has its corporate office on the Mumbai–Pune road at Kasarwadi and a factory in Phase II of the Chakan industrial area. Honeywell Automation India, incorporated in 1984 and listed on NSE and BSE, is registered at Hadapsar. Alfa Laval runs its India customer centre from Pune.
Engineering services and vehicle software form a newer layer, mostly in the west of the city. KPIT Technologies, which develops software for vehicles, is headquartered at Plot 17 of the Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Park in Hinjawadi Phase III and has a German arm in Munich. Tata Technologies, the Tata group's engineering services company, lists its investor office at Plot 25 in the same park; both are listed on NSE and BSE. On the eastern side, John Deere India works from Cybercity in Magarpatta, and Schaeffler India counts Pune among its manufacturing locations, alongside Vadodara and Hosur.
