Companies Headquartered in Austin: an overview
Opportunity Austin, the region's economic development partnership, counts 45 publicly traded companies headquartered in the Austin region and more than 170 foreign-owned companies with headquarters in the metro. It says the region has drawn more than 80 corporate headquarters relocations, second only to Dallas among US cities. On its major-employers list, Dell Technologies and Tesla appear in the top band of 6,000 or more local employees, both marked as headquarters, while Oracle and Whole Foods Market appear in the 2,000 to 5,999 band.
Several of the largest arrived by relocation. Other companies grew up locally. Whole Foods Market opened its first store in Austin in 1980 and keeps its world headquarters on Bowie Street. YETI, founded in 2006, and the privately held SolarWinds both list Southwest Parkway addresses.
