List of Companies in Bangalore: an overview
Many of Bengaluru's best-known head offices sit along Hosur Road in Electronics City, in the south-east of the city. The state electronics agency KEONICS developed the original estate on 332 acres, and the Electronics City Industries Association says the township, set up in 1978, now covers 903 acres and has about 200,000 employees. Infosys has its registered office here, and Biocon, incorporated in 1978, is on the 20th kilometre of Hosur Road. Titan's corporate office is in Veerasandra in the same area, although its registered office is across the state border in Hosur.
The city is also home to several central public sector companies, most of them set up in the years after independence. Bharat Electronics was incorporated in 1954 and is registered on the Outer Ring Road at Nagavara. ITI's first plant opened in Bengaluru in 1948, and the company still runs from ITI Bhavan in Dooravani Nagar. BEML was incorporated in May 1964 and has its office in Sampangirama Nagar, while Hindustan Aeronautics is run from Cubbon Road. Canara Bank is older still: it was founded in Mangaluru in July 1906 and now has its head office on J C Road.
Newer companies cluster along the Outer Ring Road on the east side. Flipkart brought its staff together at Embassy Tech Village in Devarabeesanahalli in 2018, Mphasis is registered at the Bagmane World Technology Center in Mahadevapura, and Page Industries, which makes and sells Jockey products in India, is in Cessna Business Park. Several of these firms have listed recently. Swiggy's shares began trading on 13 November 2024, and Ather Energy followed in May 2025. Zerodha, founded in 2010, remains private and is based in J.P. Nagar in the south of the city.
