IT Companies in Coimbatore: an overview
Coimbatore's main state-built IT site is the ELCOT Special Economic Zone on Vilankurichi Road, near the airport. The Electronics Corporation of Tamil Nadu (ELCOT) set it up on 61.59 acres at a cost of Rs 217.46 crore, and it is one of eight ELCOT SEZs in the state. The Tamil Nadu IT department's 2024-25 policy note says ELCOT has leased 9.5 acres to Wipro, 9.5 acres to TIDEL Park Coimbatore Ltd and 2 acres to Access Healthcare. Together they have built about 23 lakh sq ft and created roughly 22,900 jobs. A 2.66 lakh sq ft IT tower is also being built there.
TIDEL Park Coimbatore is the multi-tenant building inside that zone. TIDEL describes it as a Rs 407 crore, 1.7 million sq ft project that has run as an operational SEZ since May 2011. Its 9.14 lakh sq ft of IT space is fully let to 73 clients, 19 of them small and medium firms, and more than 11,500 people work there. Tenants have reported exports of around Rs 1,370 crore. Payoda, Tech Mahindra and Access Healthcare all give a TIDEL Park address on their own websites.
A second cluster sits in the northern suburbs of Saravanampatti and Keeranatham. The CHIL SEZ there houses Bosch Global Software Technologies and Sutherland, and Hexaware has an office in India Land Tech Park on Keeranatham Main Road. KGiSL runs its own campus on Thudiyalur Road. Closer to the centre, Capgemini's engineering centre at Hanudev Info Park in Udayampalayam opened in 2018 and covers 56,000 sq ft. The city is also the base of CG-VAK Software & Exports, a BSE-listed firm incorporated in 1994, and of the India team of London-based Kovai.co.
